It had been some time since the roar of a trophy truck had been heard in the deserts of Laughlin, but that all changed last weekend, as Best In The Desert returned with the Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic. 

The week started off early on Wednesday with the Parade of Champions, which showcased over a dozen race vehicles as they cruised from the pit area through Casino Dr. 

Once the parade concluded, it was time for the Method Race Wheels Pit Crew Challenge Championship. Teams battled it out in the parking lot of the Golden Nugget for the quickest tire change times. The teams each ran twice, averaging their times and hoping they would be the lowest. In the end, Canidae Racing took the top spot for the Trick Truck class and Gilbert Racing won the Class 1500 championship. Both winning teams walked away with gold custom painted and lettered floor jacks. Congrats to both of the winners! 

Thursday morning brought qualifying where drivers sped through a short and sweet 2+ mile route. Youtheory's Harley Letner hit turn 1 on two wheels and never looked back, taking the top qualifier spot and winning a custom painted and lettered Method 101 beadlock commemorating the event. 

Qualifying came to a close as more teams arrived in the pits by the minute. As the sun slowly set, it was time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo the only way we here at Method know how; groovin' to a mariachi band with a taco in one hand and an ice cold Tecate in the other surrounded by friends and family. It was an amazing turnout and we had a blast. Thanks to everyone who partied with us! 

After all vehicle has passed through tech & contingency on Friday, it was time to race! The weekend's race format was a bit different than normal in that it was a two-day event. Class heats would start Saturday and Sunday at 6am and go until 2pm. Racers battled on a 17 mile course for four laps that would culminate in a grand prix finish. Lap times were extremely quick and the competition was fierce. One slight mistake and your day was done. 

It was a whirlwind of a weekend with intense battles across all classes and mother nature throwing in a few elements to further the challenge. The track took a beating and it was interesting to witness how each class of vehicle would handle the previous classes torture. 

Overall, the event was a huge success. Regardless of teams, sponsors, car class etc, the off road community is one big family that we're honored to be a part of. We hope you all had as much fun as we did. As we settle back into our 9-5 routines, all we can think is, we can't wait to do it again next year!
